Today at a global press conference in London, Marc Pritchard, P&G Global Marketing and Brand Building Officer, and Jacques Rogge, IOC President, in front of an audience of international journalists and dignitaries, announced that P&G is sponsoring the next five Olympic Games including London 2012, Sochi 2014, Rio 2016, and the 2018 and 2020 Olympic Games. We will also be involved with Youth Olympic Games, including the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games next month.
This partnership is a natural fit because it unites two similar purposes: the IOC’s purpose to improve life through sport, and P&G’s Purpose to touch and improve lives, now and for generations to come.
The breadth of P&G’s portfolio, which includes 22 brands that each generate $1 billion or more in annual sales, and the depth of P&G’s reach, to 4 billion people worldwide, make this the most far–reaching Olympic partnership. It is an opportunity to grow our business in virtually every part of the world, to strengthen the reputation of P&G and our brands, and to touch and improve more consumers’ lives in more parts of the world…more completely.
Our approach to the IOC partnership will be similar to our 2010 U.S. Olympic Committee sponsorship—but on a truly global scale. Our brands will sponsor national teams and athletes, and our Company will continue to support moms and families though global expansion of the “Proud Sponsor of Moms” campaign. P&G is working with a select group of globally diverse mothers of Olympic athletes to shape a series of Company acts and other programs.
Plans are already in place to defray travel and lodging costs for 25 moms to see their children compete at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. And we are planning to create a documentary video series, “Raising an Olympian: The P&G Momumentary Project,” between now and the opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games. In this series, we will follow several mothers from different parts of the world to document the dedication and sacrifices they are making to help fulfill the Olympic dreams of their children.
We are excited about our IOC partnership and look forward to expanding our Proud Sponsor of Moms campaign into a powerful global movement. This is the perfect example of P&G’s efforts to build the business and improve lives at the same time.
We will share more details with you as we bring this movement to life in the weeks and months ahead.

Touching lives, improving life. P&G™
